Answer | The content of the UDC can only be published and distributed under a publishing licence. Any publisher or organization in any country in the world can apply for a UDC publishing licence for a specified edition of any length and in any medium - providing the licence in that language and for that kind of UDC edition has not already be taken by some other publisher. For instance, some publishers have reserved an exclusive right to publish in a certain language. Such is the case with English, Czech, French, Russian and Spanish. If a publisher is interested in these specific languages, it is always possible to negotiate a licence with the current 'language rights owner'. The Consortium Office can advise and help with suggestions. We are committed to support publishers and help in lowering the costs of publishing. |
